Expertise

Magne Kielland is part of Selmer's energy department. Magne mainly works towards industry projects in the energy sector and with establishing new green value chains towards the offshore industry. Magne offers counselling to a broad group of Norwegian and international companies on preparing, negotiating and analysing commercial contracts. As part of Selmer's dispute resolution group, he has experience litigating in both ordinary courts and arbitration. He has also advised on several large transactions, especially within the oil and gas sector on the Norwegian continental shelf. Magne has a deep knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework for a wide range of energy industries, especially within contract and petroleum law, but also within nuclear power, carbon capture and storage, and hydrogen. As a research assistant at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law under the University of Oslo, he wrote his dissertation on the petroleum companies' guarantee liability for operations on the Norwegian continental shelf.
